Directions for making the BBQ Sauce
In a medium saucepan, combine the onions and oil. Cook over low heat for about 5 to 10 minutes until onions are soft and translucent. Add diced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 to 2 minutes.
Add the ketchup, apple cider vinegar, pineapple juice, honey, Worcestershire sauce, corn syrup, lemon juice, liquid smoke, chili garlic sauce, chipotle chilis, brown sugar, dry mustard, pepper, and salt. Stir to combine. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes. If the sauce is too thin, continue to cook and reduce until desired consistency. The sauce will thicken some as it cools.
Place bbq sauce in a storage container and refrigerate.
Barbecue sauce is a great addition to a bacon cheeseburger or any other sandwich that would benefit from a spicy, zingy sauce. Great as a dip for a crispy order of fries.
