National Donut Day – June 6, 2026

For National Donut Day, June 6, 2026, swap that burger bun for a glazed donut, add some cheese and bacon and enjoy a Luther burger. 

You've never heard of the "Luther Burger?" Well, it is a southern favorite and it is delicious.

The donut brings an intense sweetness to the hamburger sandwich. It is a bit overpowering. But, the beefy flavor of the ground brisket comes through along with that smokey and salty bacon. The homemade American cheese brings that creaminess to the party. And that onion brings a little bit of crunchiness and onion bite. 

You can customize this cheeseburger to your liking. There are a number of recipes out there. The basic components of the Luther burger are the donut bun, beef patty, cheese, and bacon. Other toppings are up to you. Maybe some dill pickles to bring some more crunch and some acid to balance the sweetness and the fat. Not really sure on that one. Will have to try it out. 

Anyways, give the Luther burger a try. It is an unusual cheeseburger that will grow on you.
