The Visit - The Red Rabbit Kitchen
***NOTE: This restaurant is permanently closed.***
The Red Rabbit Kitchen and Bar has a great vibe. Just walking in, you can feel that this is a place that you want to hang out at for a couple of hours. The restaurant is in an L-shape layout with the horseshoe bar located at the inner corner of the "L."
The hostess took us straight to our seat. We had reservations. If we didn't, we would be waiting for a while.
We were given a booth along the wall so we could see the whole restaurant. It was perfect for people-watching.
Waitstaff was fantastic. Helpful. Informative. Attentive.
Menu Options
They have a few choices for "things between buns" (snicker), but only one burger on the menu.
For a burger choice, they have the BASIC AF BURGER. The burger includes two thin certified Angus beef patties, "murican" cheese (I assume American), shredded lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and Russian dressing.
No options listed on the menu.
At the Table
Nice, trendy presentation at the table. The burger came on a quarter-size sheet pan. The pan was painted black and definitely had a distressed look to it.
The pan was filled to the brim with the burger and what seemed like a sea of tater tots. Side of ketchup in a stainless condiment cup was included for the tots. Definitely made an error by sharing an appetizer before this meal arrived.
The Bun
This burger came with a really nice bun. It wasn't your standard burger bun. This bun and some bite to it; more firm than a basic burger bun, but not as chewy as a French roll. It landed nicely in between.
The bun came toasted on the inside and the perfect amount of crunch.
Condiments and Toppings
Toppings were all nice and fresh. Cheese was nice and melty. Russian dressing did it's job.
The only complaint I have is the use of lettuce. The menu indicated shredded lettuce. Instead of shredded lettuce, the burger came with romaine lettuce leaves.
Personally, I like shredded lettuce on my burgers. Shredded lettuce allows the lettuce to spread out into an even layer across the burger. Leaf lettuce, like romaine and iceberg, have a tendency to shoot out the back side when taking a bite of the burger.
So, I was a bit disappointed that leaf lettuce was used.
The Burger
Double-stacked burger was nice and juicy. Thin burger patties have a tendency to get over-cooked quickly and dry out. Not the case here. It wasn't run down your arm juicy. It wasn't cardboard dry. Nice and smack dab in the middle.
Cheese on top and in between the patties added a nice gooeyness.
On the Side
This cheeseburger came with an ocean of tater tots. Deep fried. Crispy. Delicious.
Final Words
The Basic AF Burger from Red Rabbit Kitchen and Bar is a major hit. Nice solid cheeseburger, fresh condiments, on a nicely toasted bun. Everything comes together well.
Between the double cheeseburger and the tater tots, there was plenty of food on the plate. Don't snack beforehand. If you plan on finishing this burger, you will need the room.
